Hope · Faith
Hope needs an anchor, or it is only optimism with better manners.
Optimism says things will probably work out. It is a forecast, and forecasts fail regularly. Hope says something else entirely: that I am held whether or not this particular thing works out.
That distinction matters most on the days the outcome goes the wrong way, when the result is not what you prayed for and you still have to get up on Monday morning.
Anchors are not decorative and they are not fitted during the storm. You attach them in ordinary weather, through small daily habits nobody claps for and nobody sees.
Tie your hope to something that cannot be taken from you by a single phone call.
