Gratitude · General
Human memory is biased against good news, and that bias will lie to you about your life.
Ask someone how their year went and they will summarise it by its worst month. The three quiet, functioning seasons vanish from the account without leaving a trace.
Bad events are stored with more detail and recalled with less effort. That is neurology, not ingratitude. But it means your memory is a poor historian of your own life.
So keep a record. One line a day, dated. In six months you will read it and find you were carried through weeks you described at the time as wasted.
Write it down, because evidence outlasts recollection.
