Community

Community · General

If the community you need does not exist where you are, you are allowed to start it.

This is the quiet grief of relocating. You left a place where people knew your mother and landed somewhere with better roads and nobody to call on a Sunday afternoon.

Nobody is coming to assemble it for you. Somebody has to send the first awkward message, book the first table, host the first small gathering with too much food and not enough chairs.

It will feel presumptuous, as though you are asking for too much too soon. Do it anyway. Most groups exist because one person was willing to look slightly too eager for a while.

The person who starts the group is rarely the one who ends up lonely.
