Knowing when to leave is a skill nobody teaches, and almost everyone learns late.
Sunk cost is a cruel accountant. Three years in a role, two years in a venture, and the years themselves become the argument for staying, as though time already spent could be recovered by spending more.
Ask a cleaner question. If you were offered this exact position today, knowing everything you now know, would you accept it? The answer usually arrives before you finish asking.
Leaving well matters too. Give notice, hand over properly, keep the bridges intact. Reputations travel faster than CVs, and you will meet these people again.
Loyalty to a season you have outgrown is not integrity, it is inertia.
Action
Ask whether you would accept your current role again today, and write the honest answer down.
