Stillness is a skill, and most of us have spent years quietly unlearning it.
Notice how fast your hand reaches for the phone at a traffic light, in a queue, in the ten seconds before a meeting starts. Silence has become uncomfortable, so we fill it with anything available.
Elijah found God not in the wind, the earthquake or the fire, but in a low whisper, the one sound a noisy life cannot carry.
Start small. Two minutes without input. Your mind will scramble for something to do, then settle, and what surfaces in that settling is usually the thing you have been busy enough to avoid.
What you hear in silence is almost always what you most needed to know.
