Rest

Rest · Faith

The rest you keep postponing until things finally calm down will never arrive on its own.

Sabbath was never a reward for finishing. The command came to people with crops still in the ground and enemies at the border. They stopped anyway, weekly, on purpose, before the work was done.

A rhythm protects you in ways willpower cannot. Willpower asks whether you have earned rest today, and the answer is always no. A rhythm has already decided, so you stop negotiating with yourself every Friday.

Choose your day. Guard it before the week fills. Tell the people who will ask for it that it is already spoken for.

Stopping on schedule is how you prove your worth was never in the working.
