You are already leaving a legacy; you have simply not been editing it.

Legacy sounds like buildings, foundations and a name on a wall. Mostly it is smaller than that: how people felt after speaking with you, repeated a few thousand times.

That is being decided now, in ordinary interactions you do not treat as significant. The security man. The junior colleague. The way you answer people when you are tired and nobody schedules those moments.

None of it requires wealth or a platform. It requires paying attention to the accumulation, because it is accumulating whether or not you choose to supervise it.
