Discipline

Discipline · Faith

You are not disciplining yourself into being loved; you are already loved and now free to grow.

Much of the guilt around missed devotions and broken habits rests on a wrong belief, that consistency purchases acceptance from God and inconsistency withdraws it. Guilt is a poor engine and it always stalls.

Grace produces sturdier discipline than shame ever has. Shame makes you hide after failing. Security lets you begin again on a Tuesday without ceremony or explanation.

Return without the long apology. The practices exist for your formation, not for God's approval, and He is not sitting somewhere counting the days you missed.

Begin again gently, as many times as it takes.
