Your reputation is built almost entirely out of small promises kept without applause.
Nobody remembers the grand declaration at the strategy meeting. They remember that you said the document would come on Tuesday, and it came on Tuesday, without anyone having to chase you.
The person who is casual about small commitments is not relaxed. They are unreliable in a way that has not yet cost them anything visible. It will. That bill always arrives late.
If you cannot keep it, say so early. A renegotiated deadline is integrity. A silent missed one is a withdrawal from an account you cannot easily refill.
Be the person whose I will never needs a follow-up message, and doors open you never knocked on.
