Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 9 2026

Being is operated by Techly Marketing Limited, Lagos, Nigeria (“we”, “us”).

This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Being. We have written it plainly, because a policy you cannot read is not consent.

The short version

Being keeps almost nothing. Your daily reading, your saved pieces and your journal entries are stored on your own device and never sent to us. We cannot read your journal. Nobody at Being can.

What we store on your device

The following is held in your browser or app’s local storage, on your phone or computer, and does not reach our servers:

Clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app deletes all of this permanently. We hold no copy, so we cannot restore it.

What we collect

Anonymous usage analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and understand which content people read. It does not use cookies, does not build a profile of you, and does not track you across other websites. It records the page visited, approximate country, device type and referring site.

Anonymous product analytics. We use PostHog, hosted in the European Union, to understand which pieces people read and whether they come back. It sets no cookies, keeps what it needs in your browser’s local storage, and builds no profile of you. It never records your screen, and it never sees your journal.

Your email address, and your WhatsApp number if you offer one. When you subscribe we store the address you enter, how often you asked to hear from us, and which page you subscribed from. Subscribing takes two steps: you enter your address, then you confirm it from a link we email you. Nothing is sent until you confirm, and that confirmation is our record that you agreed.

A WhatsApp number is optional and empty unless you type one. If you give it, we use it only to send you the same pieces by WhatsApp. Leaving it blank changes nothing else about your subscription.

Our email goes out through Brevo, whose servers are in the European Union, so your details are held there as well as processed here. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe. When you unsubscribe we keep a note that you did and nothing else — that note is what stops us mailing you again by mistake. Otherwise we hold your details for as long as you are subscribed, and delete them within 30 days of your asking. We do not sell, rent or share email addresses or phone numbers.

Technical logs. Our hosting provider records standard server logs including IP addresses, retained briefly for security and abuse prevention.

[UPDATE WHEN ACCOUNTS LAUNCH] — when accounts arrive, this section must describe what account data is stored, where, and for how long.

[UPDATE WHEN PAYMENTS LAUNCH] — Paystack will process payments. Card details never reach us; Paystack holds them. This section must then describe what subscription records we keep.

What we do not do

Children

Being is written for adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and under GDPR if you are in the UK or EU, you may ask us to:

For journal entries and saved content, you do not need to ask — that data is yours, on your device, and you can delete it yourself at any time.

For anything we hold, email hello@techlymarketing.com and we will respond within 30 days.
